About

Who We Are?

Love CNY ThinkTank was started by a group of friends who live, work and raise our families in Central New York, and have a strong desire to make a positive impact in our community. Through our collective network we have gathered a group of people with a wide range of experiences and talents that we can leverage to make a difference.

We are parents, we are educators, we are neighbors, we are advocates, we are Central New Yorkers.

Why We Are?

After an incredibly divisive election season we felt a call to action. A call to heal divisions. A call to help the ostracized and those in need. A call to keep the country moving forward and to stand up for future generations.

Our Mission

Our mission is to activate and mobilize individuals looking for opportunities to make a positive impact in Central New York (CNY). We are dedicated to learning about CNY, the place we live, to volunteering, supporting, and joining together around issues and initiatives we believe will make the greatest impact in our community and for future generations.

Current Focus

When we started the Love CNY ThinkTank, we had many discussions about our interests, the current challenges facing society, the groups and organizations we were already working with in CNY, and groups and events we were interested in supporting to make an impact. Through our research and conversations, we came up with several areas to focus on in the coming year:

  • Environment – Spring 2017
  • Refugees and under-served populations – Summer 2017
  • Education & outreach to youth – Fall 2017
  • Tolerance, & developing advocates & leaders in our community – Winter 2017/2018

Our focus will change with the diverse interests of our members and the issues facing society.

What We Do?

As our group coalesced we have found ways to leverage our different talents and experiences to create a multifaceted organization that will help the people in Central New York who need it most. We will also guide people that have something to offer their community, but have not been able to find an outlet for that desire.

We understand that we all have limited time to volunteer and do advocacy work in our community. Just like you we are balancing our desire to help others with our families and careers. Our motto has become “activism for busy people”. Our hope is that we can help connect busy people with opportunities to make a difference in the limited time they have.

One of our main focuses will be to continue identifying and researching local organizations that are already established. There is no reason for us to “reinvent the wheel”. We will vet these organizations and then work with them to find opportunities for community members to get involved.

As our group grows will work towards generating our own events and funding through grants and fundraisers. In the upcoming months we will start by building our network and supporting established groups and events in CNY that we feel are already making an impact.
